Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini faced backlash after photos of them together at a resort in Arizona were published by Page Six earlier this month.
The two were captured hugging, holding hands, and spending time by the pool, while also having an hour-long breakfast at the patio, according to Page Six.
Vrabel at first labeled the situation “laughable” and said that the pictures showed nothing more than an “innocent interaction.” He spoke to the media on Tuesday and shared that he has been having difficult conversations with the people he cares about, including his family, the Patriots, the coaches, and the players.
The Patriots head coach called the conversations positive and productive, adding that he has to make good decisions both on and off the field.
Fans reacted to Vrabel’s comments.
”It’s not hard to not cheat man, I wish him nothing but the worst ngl,” one fan reacted.
“In the NFL, a general manager got fired from Minnesota and one of the things that was brought up was him taking paternity leave to help his wife who gave birth to their child or children…. (basically being a good husband). A head coach that got caught hugging and kissing on a reporter & will probably still be the face of the franchise,” another fan pointed out.
“Remember when this jockstrap said it was “laughable” that his interaction with Russini was anything but innocent. He’s not laughing now,” another fan highlighted.
“Wait. I thought he said it was laughable what was being accused. I thought dianna said she was resigning because she wouldn’t let her name be slandered. What was the tough conversation?” another fan questioned.
“What an a**hole. Fans are most important? What about his wife? He basically admitted it without saying it. Mentioned he loves the team and fans. Again, what about the wife?” another fan shared their thoughts.
”It sure was laughable. What a POS perfect for the patriots org along with the happy ending owner who tried to kill the story,” another fan added.
Dianna Russini Resigns From The Athletic Amid Mike Vrabel Controversy
While the NFL decided not to review Mike Vrabel’s conduct, Dianna Russini gave up her job at The Athletic after the organization began an internal investigation.
While The Athletic initially said it supported Russini, its parent company, The New York Times, began an investigation to review her conduct.
Russini resigned amid the investigation, saying she didn’t want to be subject to more public scrutiny.
“You and I have already publicly addressed the recent attacks against me, and I have nothing to add publicly to what we have said. I have covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout my career, and I stand behind every story I have ever published,” Russini wrote in her letter.
The popular reporter also highlighted that many media figures were “self-feeding” on this controversy based on things that weren’t true.
