“He Gets Evicted Frequently”: Fans In Doubt as Former Bengals Rookie Lands Bills Minicamp Invite in Bid for NFL Comeback

After being cut by the Cincinnati Bengals just two seasons after being drafted, former third-round pick Jermaine Burton is getting another shot, this time with the Buffalo Bills. According to reports, Burton will attend Buffalo’s rookie minicamp as he attempts to revive a career that once carried first-round expectations.

As the news of the minicamp invite surfaced, fan reactions came quickly.

“Watch out landlords of Buffalo, he gets evicted frequently!” one fan joked, referencing past reports tied to Burton’s off-field issues.

“The talent is there but he’s consistently in trouble,” another added, highlighting the ongoing concern surrounding his reliability.

“I didn’t know there were slot machines in Buffalo,” another wrote.

Not every comment was negative; some were also more optimistic takes.

“Very good WR if he can get and stay focused,” one user wrote, pointing to the upside that once made Burton such an intriguing prospect.

“Fresh opportunity for Burton to restart his career and prove his talent,” another fan noted.

“Solid grab is he can figure his sh*t out and stay out of drama,” another wrote.

Second Chance Comes With Familiar Questions

Burton’s talent has rarely been the issue. Coming out of college, he was widely viewed as one of the more explosive wide receivers in his class. But concerns around consistency and off-field behavior followed him into the league and ultimately caught up with him in Cincinnati.

During his stint with the Bengals, he struggled to carve out a role. Reports pointed to missed practices and issues with punctuality, and he was eventually released after being inactive throughout his second season.

Now, at just 24 years old, the Bills are offering him a low-risk opportunity to prove he still belongs. For the Bills, this is a calculated move. Rookie minicamp invites cost little but can yield valuable depth if a player clicks. With Buffalo looking to maintain its offensive firepower, adding a player with Burton’s ceiling makes sense.

But the margin for error is slim. He doesn’t just need to perform on the field, he needs to show growth off it. NFL teams have shown time and again that talent alone isn’t enough if it comes with instability.

If he can stay focused and capitalize on the moment, there’s still a path forward.
If not, the doubts that followed him out of Cincinnati will only grow louder.
