Stephen A. Smith tossed his thoughts into the breakup between Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson on Monday. Smith’s reaction came after the Grammy-winning artist accused the Dallas Mavericks star of cheating on her, which she confirmed with TMZ on Saturday as the reason for the split.
Smith, via his “Straight Shooter with Stephen A.” show, commented:
“I don’t know what happened in their relationship. Don’t wanna know, ain’t none of my damn business and none of y’all’s either. But Megan Thee Stallion made it so Saturday night. Why? How come you just couldn’t break up and go on your merry way? … Why we gotta dog the brother out? Is there a wedding that I missed?
“We didn’t hear from Klay. What if Klay said it was you? What if Klay said it was you out there getting your freak on? These women just chirp, chirp, chirping all over the damn place.”
The “Hiss” hitmaker stunned social media on Saturday with a cryptic Instagram message about cheating. Hours later, the rapper confirmed via her representative to TMZ that she had broken up with Klay Thompson.
Speculations erupted about the identity of the woman Thompson allegedly had an affair with. Lexie Bell was dragged into the rumors, prompting the Seattle Storm guard to defend herself with a message on Instagram.
Stephen A. Smith’s stance about people laying out their relationships in public has never changed. In a 2023 appearance on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast with Shannon Sharpe, Smith said:
“I can’t stand it when we have people out here sharing information on Instagram and Twitter. Grown-a**ed men and women! When did your business become everybody’s business? I don’t vibe with that.”
Based on that perspective, it isn’t surprising to hear Smith double down on that stance after Megan Thee Stallion accused Klay Thompson of cheating on her.
Fans React to Stephen A. Smith Calling Out Megan Thee Stallion
Stephen A. Smith’s rant about Megan Thee Stallion went viral, gaining reactions from fans. One fan wrote:
“Man does something morally wrong, and the woman is the one getting criticized. We get it, bro, you hate women.”
Another fan added:
“If you defend a cheater, that’s because you’re one yourself or would’ve done first.”
One more fan continued:
“TRUTH!!! If you’re not married, you’re single. Move on quietly.”
Another fan commented:
“I agree with (Smith). She’s looking for sympathy from her followers. Leave your private life private.”
One fan tweeted:
“Because she wanted his behavior exposed. He’s a habitual cheater.”
The ESPN analyst once played “The Love Doctor,” a comedic part of “Stephen A’s World” in 2021. It seems his advice for the “Cobra” singer to keep her relationship to herself divided fans.
While some agreed with Smith, others couldn’t help but bash him for his comments.
