What Happened to Tacko Fall? Looking at Career Trajectory of 7’6 Former NBA Player After 2026 Celebrity All-Star Game Nod

Former NBA player Tacko Fall will appear during the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on Friday, Feb. 13. The 7-foot-6 center joined 21 others who have been named into the annual marquee event. Fall will play under Team Giannis, which will be coached by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Alex Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo and MLB superstar Mookie Betts.

Fall will appear on an NBA court after spending the past three years playing basketball overseas.

Tacko Fall’s NBA career was short-lived

Tacko Fall played college basketball with the UCF Knights before joining the 2019 NBA draft. Despite the hype, which came because of his impressive height and wingspan, Fall went undrafted.

Fall signed with the Boston Celtics that year but spent most of his time with the Maine Red Claws in the G League. In two seasons with the Celtics, he averaged 2.7 points and 2.6 rebounds in 6.5 minutes per outing. Fall usually saw action when the outcome had been determined.

Although Fall became a fan favorite, the Celtics let him go in the summer of 2021. From Boston, he took his talents to Cleveland, where he again largely stayed in the G League. Fall’s Cavaliers’ career saw him average 1.1 ppg and 2.1 rpg.

Tacko Fall had great size and length, but he did not have the mobility or shooting touch to stay long in the NBA. In August 2022, he left for China to play with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers.

In 2023, he was a fixture in China, New Zealand and Australia. He played for the Nanjing Monkey Kings in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). During the offseason, he suited up for the New Zealand Breakers in the National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia.

In 2025, neither the Monkey Kings nor the Breakers re-signed Tacko Fall, forcing him to play for the Ningbo Rockets in the CBA.

During the NBA All-Star weekend on Friday, he will be part of the Celebrity Game. Fall will team up with another former NBA player and sensation Jeremy Lin.
