The New York Knicks took a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, but OG Anunoby’s injury exit momentarily paused the celebrations. The starting small forward has been the most consistent player for the Knicks in the 2026 NBA playoffs, so his potential injury is deeply concerning to fans.
Anunoby left the floor with 2:31 left in the fourth quarter. During an offensive possession, he tried to cut to the rim but pulled his right hamstring and limped around. Anunoby continued moving around for a bit and hopped around before signaling the bench to sub him out.
Here’s the video of what went down:
Knicks coach Mike Brown said he had no update on OG Anunoby’s situation, but it seemed like the forward dealt with a right hamstring injury as he clutched at the back of his leg before limping around. It could be a tough blow for the Knicks, depending on the severity of the injury. If it’s a mild strain, Anunoby could be day-to-day. If it’s a Grade 1 or Grade 2 strain, he could miss anywhere between two and six weeks of action.
Anunoby has been stellar in the postseason, averaging 21.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 1.9 steals, shooting 63.7%, including 59.4% from 3-point range.
OG Anunoby with another massive performance before injury exit vs. 76ers in Game 2
OG Anunoby played a decisive role in the Knicks’ Game 2 win over the 76ers. It was a close contest, unlike the series opener, in which New York had a 23-point halftime lead. In Wednesday’s contest, the two teams exchanged leads 25 times and tied the game 14 times before New York pulled away in the second half.
The Knicks needed a special effort from players not named Jalen Brunson or Karl-Anthony Towns, and Anunoby took that responsibility with a 24-point game. He added five rebounds and four steals to his box score, while shooting 52.9% from the field. Anunoby finished the game with the highest plus-minus (+12) in the game.
