What Happened to Dillon Brooks? Latest Update on Phoenix Suns Guard After Early Exit From Game vs. Magic

On Saturday, Dillon Brooks headed to the locker room after playing seven minutes at the start of the Phoenix Suns-Orlando Magic matchup. The Suns would go on to rule out Brooks for the rest of the game, and even if Phoenix came away with a thrilling 113-110 victory in double overtime, the latest update on Brooks’ condition was far from a positive development.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Brooks “sustained a broken left hand,” which will sideline the Suns guard for the time being. Charania added that doctors working with the Suns organization have yet to “determine a timetable” for Brooks’ recovery.

To date, it’s unclear when exactly Dillon Brooks sustained this injury. For what it’s worth, a viral report claims that Brooks had been clutching either his hand or his wrist for a period of time in the first quarter.

In his first season with the Suns, Brooks is averaging a career-high 21.2 points per game, along with 3.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals. After Phoenix let go of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal last year, Brooks fit in well with franchise player Devin Booker and showcased his two-way skill set to help the Suns stay competitive.

As Charania noted, Brooks’ absence will be a “difficult injury blow” for a Phoenix squad that is trying to secure an outright playoff spot.

Dillon Brooks Gets Shoutout From Steph Curry After 4x NBA Champion’s Animated Film Premieres

Though some NBA players might not mind Dillon Brooks’ absence in the near future, he has at least earned the respect of an all-time great in Steph Curry.

While promoting the animated film “Goat,” which Curry co-produced, the Golden State Warriors superstar was asked if the villainous character Mane Attraction was inspired by Brooks.

Laughing, Curry replied, “I saw him last night too. See, people are taking from the movie what they are supposed to take.”

Whether Brooks was playing for the Memphis Grizzlies or the Houston Rockets, he always brought intensity to the court when he squared off against Curry’s Warriors. Off the court, though, it appears that Brooks has gone out of his way to support Curry’s film endeavors.
