Lakers’ Austin Reaves got hurt during the team’s marquee clash against the Thunder on Thursday. Reaves took a shot to his back on a defensive rebound attempt and clutched at his lower back and hip area. He even headed back to the locker room briefly in the second quarter before gutting it out and returning to the floor.
However, it didn’t make any significant difference as Reaves didn’t look comfortable out there and kept clutching at the injured area. Nevertheless, through 13 minutes of action (at the time of writing), Reaves had a team-high eight points on 2 of 4 shots, both field goals coming from the 3-point range. However, the Lakers trailed by 30+.
The Lakers don’t seem to be heading anywhere close to a win in this contest with such a massive deficit, so the ideal situation would be to rest Reaves. However, JJ Redick seemingly wanted his team to fight it out and see if they could attempt a miraculous comeback.
Lakers fans are dissatisfied with decision to keep Austin Reaves in the game despite injury
Lakers fans weren’t in favor of keeping Austin Reaves in the game. After he returned, they expressed their dissatisfaction, especially with how frustrating it was to watch the team struggle and be down 30 points to the best team in the NBA.
Here’s how they reacted:
“Why is he even playing, we’re getting f*cken whooped. This game is so f*cken embarrassing for how much hype it got,” one fan said.
“Stop playing Reaves when you keep looking hurt! Sit down if you can’t play!” another wrote.
“Why is he in . It’s a blowout . Holy shit,” one fan added.
“Just sit him at this point,” another said.
“Just forfeit the game. This is embarrassing,” one fan commented.
