Warriors Fans Rip Brandin Podziemski After New Footage Shows His Fault in Steph Curry’s Missed Game Winner: “Main Character Energy Syndrome”

Golden State Warriors fans are not happy with Brandin Podziemski due to the final play of Sunday’s game against the Houston Rockets.

The Warriors had seven seconds to get a shot off as the Rockets led the game 117-116. Curry dribbled the ball up the floor and received a screen from Draymond Green. But with Jabari Smith and Amen Thompson swarming him, a single screen did not prove enough for Curry to get a quality look at the basket.

A video of the final play was shared on X by @BrickCenter_. The clip shows Green asking Podziemski to set a screen. The guard, however, stayed camped at the elbow and watched the play unfold as Curry missed the final shot.

Fans reacted to the video, criticizing Podziemski. Some fans even claimed that the guard did not help as he wanted to take the final shot.

“Podz deadass would want Steph to pass the ball so he can take the shot. Main character energy syndrome as usual,” one fan said

“Because Podz wanted to be the hero.  He stayed in the open zone hoping Steph would pass the ball to him,” another fan said.

“Podz wants to take the game winner so bad, he thought Steph gonna  passed it to him, stupid clown,” one fan wrote

“After 3 years and he still has not understood how to play with Steph,” another fan wrote.

“It looks like Pods wanted to be the hero, waiting for Steph to pass him the ball. Lol,” a fan said.

Despite the loss and the footage highlighting his mistake on the game’s final play, Podziemski had an efficient night, finishing with 18 points and three assists, shooting 7-for-11.

A closer look at Brandin Podziemski’s season without Steph Curry

Brandin Podziemski has stepped in as the Warriors’ starting guard for almost half of this season, starting 39 games. Curry missed 38 of those games, leading the Warriors to rely on Podziemski to lead the charge. He has been solid during that stretch, averaging 15.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game without Curry, shooting 43%, including 34.7% from 3-point range.

Despite his productive performances, Podziemski has been subjected to significant criticism from fans citing his “selfish” play and comments from earlier this season.
