Tyrese Haliburton trolled ex-Kentucky Wildcats players after the team’s former coach, John Calipari, coached the Arkansas Razorbacks to a 94-88 win against the High Point Panthers in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile, Kentucky lost to Iowa State, 82-63, and is out of the tournament.
Calipari’s roster consisted of several former Kentucky players. After the game, Haliburton took a dig at his connections from Kentucky.
“Went to text the guys who played at Kentucky about this game and forgot they think they Arkansas Alum now,” Haliburton wrote on X.
Haliburton played for Iowa State in college, averaging 10.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game, shooting 50.9%, including 42.6% from 3-point range. He spent two seasons there before being drafted at No. 12 in 2020. Haliburton made one trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2019 and was eliminated in the first round.
Following Sunday’s win, the Arkansas Razorbacks and Haliburton’s Iowa State are both through to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.
Tyrese Haliburton says he’s in a “really good spot” with his Achilles injury recovery
Tyrese Haliburton gave an interview to Sports Illustrated, touching on where he is in his recovery. The Indiana Pacers guard started by expressing how happy he was to see Jayson Tatum get back on the floor after suffering the same injury as him. He gave an account of how his Achilles recovery has progressed, saying:
“I’m in a really good spot. I’ve pretty much done everything at this point,” Haliburton said. “I’ve obviously been dealing with shingles over the last month, so that’s been really tough. And that’s something that I’ve had to deal with and want to get through. And I’m working on getting all the way through that and getting that out of my system. That’s kind of hindered or stopped progress a little bit.”
Last season, Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers to Game 7 of the NBA Finals; without him, the team collapsed in 2025-26. The Pacers are 15th in the Eastern Conference with a 15-56 record and have been eliminated from playoff contention.
