Mikal Bridges was instrumental in the New York Knicks’ 105-104 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 on Saturday. The Knicks’ more-than-five-decades wait for a title might end this season, given the start the team has made in the finals series. However, the job is not done, and Bridges made it clear in the postgame interview.
Knicks loyalist and popular American actor, Timothee Chalamet, was pleased by the forward’s mentality in a high-intensity matchup. Bridges contributed 20 points, six assists, and six rebounds, all of which came in the second and third quarters. He was hot from the 3, going 4-4. However, the fourth quarter was not that good for him, as he went 0-4, nor for the team.
In his postgame interview, the 6-foot-6 forward addressed fourth-quarter woes and said:
“I wish we had a better fourth quarter, but they a really good time, keep pushing, but we gotta be better. … Even though I am tired, I got to go, I can’t have a fourth quarter like that.”
When asked about his mindset before going back home for Game 3 up 2-0, Bridges ended his statement with a strong message for the team:
“0-0, same desperation all times.”
Chalamet, who has been seen courtside in every playoff game this season, was seemingly impressed by Bridges’ mentality. He shared the post on his Instagram story and wrote:
“so inspiring wow”

Bridges’ offensive production has surged in the postseason, and that has helped the Knicks get out of some difficult situations. The team would need his support now more than ever as they enter the final phase of the season.
“(Mikal) was huge for us,” Coach Mike Brown hails Mikal Bridges’ outing
Knicks coach Mike Brown also praised Mikal Bridges’ stellar performance in Game 2. In his postgame media session, the coach said:
“Mikal during a stretch of the ballgame was huge for us on both ends of the floor. You’re not stopping a guy like De’Aaron Fox. You’ve just got to try to make him work. We put Mikal on Fox in the second half a little bit and made him work.”
The Knicks will now prepare to return home for Game 3, where the atmosphere will be electrifying, given the home team is up 2-0 at Madison Square Garden. This will be a dream come true for every Knicks fan in the arena. The Spurs will feel the pressure, but a comeback is still on the cards and necessary at this moment.
