Former NBA great Scottie Pippen was recently seen in an advertisement for a soft drink, which has sparked controversy on social media. The former Chicago Bulls legend’s problems with Michael Jordan came to light after the documentary on the legendary run of the Bulls, The Last Dance, was released on Netflix.
In the recent commercial for Mr. Pibb, a soft drink brand owned by the Coca-Cola company, Pippen indirectly took shots at the 6-time NBA champion and his legacy in the league. He said:
“When something has been considered second-best for so long, we just blindly accept it as gospel.”
The former Bulls forward also seemed to be referring to him being considered the second option on the two three-peat-winning Bulls team beside MJ. He added:
“A decade-long plot built on marketing, social media and multi-part documentaries.”
Pippen seemed to be referring to Nike’s ‘Be Like Mike’ campaign for Jordan and his Netflix documentary in the commercial to clarify his stance on the MJ-Scottie Pippen beef. Fans have long been divided on Pippen’s impact on the 1990s Bulls and his contribution to the six championships the team won in that era.
“This n**ga needs a therapist badly lol,” Fans react to Scottie Pippen’s latest jab on Michael Jordan
Fans quickly took to the comment section of the post and criticized Scottie Pippen for still keeping the grudge. A fan stated that the former NBA player might need to consult someone and wrote:
“This n**ga needs a therapist badly lol”
A fan even went on to share the stats about the two Bulls legends and wrote:
“Plot built on marketing”
In terms of numbers, there was no match between the two players on the court. While Michael Jordan averaged 30.1 points in his career, Scottie Pippen averaged 16.1. Jordan was even better on the defensive end of the court, with more steals per game.
