Paul Pierce is known for his hot takes on NBA-related things, and now, his latest statement about East vs. West has come under scrutiny. There has been a sort of consensus on the argument that the Western Conference is currently stronger in terms of talent than the Eastern Conference. However, the former Boston Celtics forward felt otherwise.
Talking on the No Fouls Given podcast, Pierce talked about the debate between the West and East teams and gave his reasons for calling East better than West. He said:
“I don’t care what nobody say, the East is better than the West. Dude listen, I’m looking at 10 teams over .500, I’m looking at 10 teams over .500. But when I look at the West, you got only 8 teams over .500.
“Then, if you want to talk about there is a disparity at the top from the East to the West, I don’t think so because a healthy Pistons team can very well play with the Thunder. A healthy Celtics team can play with the Spurs. Who gonna be the three seed, Oh, the Knicks can they play with the Lakers, Yeah absolutely.”
However, fans did not take his statement lightly and criticized him for saying that East was better than West. A user wrote:
“Pierce just be loud wrong with confidence…East got a lot of “solid” teams… West got actual problems”
Even though Pierce believed that, comparing team by team, the East is better than the West, his co-host did not agree. However, Danny Green saw the logic that the Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves were not better teams when compared to the Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, or Toronto Raptors.
Paul Pierce hit with paternity lawsuit
An LA-based event coordinator, named Princess Santiago, has hit Paul Pierce with a paternity lawsuit in California and asked the NBA legend to pay around $30,000 in child support and $100,000 for legal fees. As per documents accessed by TMZ Sports, the woman claimed that Pierce was the father of her newborn child and was ready for the genetic testing to confirm.
Pierce remains in the spotlight for his on and off the court antics even after hanging up his sneakers. Whether his “East is better than West” take will hold is to be seen, but fans certainly did not agree with him.
