Patrick Beverley Ups the Ante in Beef With Dwyane Wade in Latest James Harden Argument

Patrick Beverley reignited his beef with Dwyane Wade after James Harden and the Cleveland Cavaliers won Game 7 against the Toronto Raptors. It goes back to when Bev stated that he believed James Harden was a better player than Wade, keeping aside their team accolades. However, after the Cavs went down 1-3 in their series against the Raptors, fans criticized Harden’s capabilities on big stages, holding Pat Bev accountable for backing the Beard.

The Cavs managed to keep their playoff run alive on the back of a stellar game from Jarrett Allen, who scored 22 points and grabbed 19 rebounds, along with two steals and three blocks. On his Pat Bev Show, Beverley addressed fans’ comments and said naysayers were ready to attack him if Harden and the Cavs lost in Round 1.

Wade earlier responded to Patrick Beverley’s comments on the comparison and stated that he was a winner, and Bev never played him at his peak. Former Bucks guard brought Dwyane Wade to the conversation and said:

“Y’all was ready to throw James Harden legacy away after 1 game. Y’all had the tweets. I know D Wade had something to tweet out if the Cleveland Cavaliers would’ve lost”

Harden scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished three assists, with three steals in 37 minutes. Even though the Cavs managed to edge out the Raptors in the last game, the guard was not at his top form. He shot 3-9 from the field and 1-5 from deep.

In line with what Beverley pointed out, Harden averaged 20 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in the series, along with 2.1 steals. He shot 37.5% from deep and 45.3% from the field, which are not bad numbers by any sense in a playoff series. However, fans are used to more from the guard, and he would need better execution against the Detroit Pistons.

“They are really good team,” James Harden praises Toronto Raptors’ defense

James Harden is known for his handles and ability to shift around defenders to get to his spot and score a bucket. However, the Cavaliers faced stiff competition from the Raptors’ defense, which Harden mentioned in his media session. Praising the Raptors’ relentlessness on defense, he said:

“I’ll give Toronto credit. They are a really good team, especially defensively. They get after you, they swarm the basketball, they create turnovers and get on transition, they do things differently. It was very effective throughout the series.”

As Harden said, ball security was one of the major issues for him, as he turned the ball over more than five times every game. In the conference semifinals, they will battle the Pistons, who have also survived a tough series against the Orlando Magic.

If Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren get back to their regular-season form after the rest, the Cavs will need every weapon in their arsenal to compete equally, including Spida Mitchell, who still needs to unlock his peak form.
