Drake and Kevin Durant recently featured together in a hilarious Nike commercial, announcing the new KD19. The signature KD shoe will be available globally on June 17 on the Nike SNKRS app with an expected retail price of $115.
Notably, the 5-time Grammy winner was engaged in a high-profile controversy involving LeBron James. In his latest album, Drake took some shots at the 4-time NBA champion for siding with Kendrick Lamar in his beef with the Compton native. And now, he has collaborated with an old friend in the league.
Drake played the character of a “yes man” friend to Durant, impressed with every pair of shoes the Slim Reaper showed him. In the end, the 2-time NBA champion finally reveals the new KD19 in a blue colorway. The hip-hop artist shared the video on Instagram and wrote:
“Normalize glazing the bros
@easymoneysniper 19th sneaker available on nike.com and SNKRs 6.17”
Fans loved the vibe between the two superstars, especially amid Drake’s increasing distance from James, who had a healthy relationship. However, this is not the first time the two have collaborated.
Earlier, Durant had been a close friend of Drake, and the two had been seen together multiple times. Drake even gave a shoutout to the 2-time NBA Finals MVP in his song, Pop That. They even have tattoos of each other as a sign of respect. Meanwhile, Drake’s tussle with James has garnered attention from several celebrities, including LBJ’s agent.
Rich Paul opens up on differences between Drake and LeBron James
LeBron James’ agent, Rich Paul, in an episode of his podcast “Game Over,” talked about the most popular topic in the NBA world: Drake dissing LeBron James on his latest album, Iceland. Expressing his wish that James and Drake work things out, the Canadian rapper said:
“At the end of the day, I think it’s important for adults to really reconcile down the road and stay out of that… I don’t get involved in any of that. For me, it’s just about allowing time to pass and hopefully, people can reconcile their differences.”
Only time will tell if King James and Drake reconcile their differences. The Lakers forward is already going through a lot right now, amid questions around his future in the league and his extension with the franchise. He is an unrestricted free agent now, free to negotiate with any team in the league.
