While the Philadelphia 76ers struggle on the court, Joel Embiid has issues of his own to address in the postseason. He underwent an emergency surgery for appendicitis and was sidelined for almost 20 days. The 2023 NBA MVP returned to the team in Game 4 against the Boston Celtics in Round 1, but couldn’t help the team level the series. After the game, he shared his health issues and a serious problem that led fans to suggest solutions.
The 76ers lost Game 4, 96-128, and now trail the series 1-3. Interestingly, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Peyton Pritchard contributed 82 of those points. Nobody, besides the three, even scored in double digits. On the other hand, Embiid began his postseason campaign with a double-double, 26 points and 10 rebounds, but could not lead the team to a win.
After the game, the 7-time NBA All-Star addressed his health struggles and said:
“I was just up until like 4 in the morning, I was like ‘yeah, I need help.’ And you know, you go to the bathroom, you can’t poop, nothing’s coming out. You can’t even walk so that’s why I had to tell them, I am like ‘something is really wrong here.'”
Fans quickly jumped to the comment section and suggested some solutions to the center to help him ease his pain. One wrote:
“Need a laxative my brotha, ya constipated”
Another mocked Embiid for his postseason performance and wrote:
“The TMI is crazy, but somehow still more consistent than his playoff availability. Just play ball, man.”
One more user made fun of the situation and wrote:
“Homie is on the “down low””
One user supported Embiid for playing through the pain and wrote:
“He plays through hell every playoffs, pushes his body past limits the usual troll wouldn’t even dare. Everyone needs to start commending his efforts towards Philly, instead of bashing him”
Another user suggested that he should retire and wrote:
“He needs to just retire it’s not normal and he’s forcing himself to play”

Embiid is surely in pain, but he came back to play Game 4 to give his team a chance to survive. Even though the 76ers failed to level the series and find themselves in a 1-3 hole, Embiid has shown remarkable grit towards the sport and the franchise.
Joel Embiid and Co. overpowered by the Celtics trio in Game 4
Joel Embiid came back after a grueling appendicitis surgery to help the Philadelphia 76ers level the series and give them a chance. However, the outcome did not change. Even fans were fed up with the team and left the arena before the game ended.
Peyton Pritchard (32), Jaylen Brown (20), and Jayson Tatum (30) completely dominated the game and took it away from the 76ers. They will now meet for Game 5 back at TD Garden, and the Celtics will look to end the series in front of the home crowd.
