NBA Trade Rumors: After Jimmy Butler Injury, Steph Curry Looks to Form Biggest Superteam of All-Time

The trade mill in the NBA is churning out new names every day, and the latest ones, including Steph Curry, have the resume and skillset to be one of the most lethal superteams of all time. Jimmy Butler is out for the season due to an ACL tear against the Miami Heat on January 19, and with Jonathan Kuminga already on the lookout for his next destination, the Golden State Warriors might be looking to acquire big contracts. NBA analyst Jake Fischer has added some big names to the mix.

The Warriors’ organization was in a year-long tussle with Kuminga over Steve Kerr and their relationship, which led him to demand a trade from the team before the February 5 deadline. After Butler went out due to injury, Kuminga has again joined the squad, but the Warriors have lost both games with him back in the rotation.

NBA analyst Jake Fischer, in his latest update, suggested that the Warriors management might pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James in the off-season. He wrote:

“Sources say that the Warriors naturally do plan to feature prominently in the trade mix for Milwaukee’s Antetokounmpo if he truly becomes available via trade this offseason while also exploring the prospect of teaming James with Stephen Curry at last once LeBron becomes an unrestricted free agent on June 30.”

The Warriors have been actively working with the Milwaukee Bucks to see if Giannis gets interested in exploring options after his second year in the three-year deal. He can explore free agency in 2027 anyway, but with the frustrations in Milwaukee, a deal might not be far away.

Meanwhile, the idea of Steph Curry playing alongside LeBron James in Golden State has been lurking around for some time now. Now that the Warriors are looking to offload Butler and Kuminga’s contract, they might actively pursue the King. It might be easier for them to pursue James with the current internal turmoil in the franchise.

Jeanie Buss’ drama might help team Steph Curry with LeBron James in Golden State

With the recent rumors of Jeanie Buss’ unhappiness with LeBron James presence on the team, the Warriors management can push for him, as James will be a free agent after this season. The NBA world is divided over Buss’s take on James. The Warriors forward Draymond Green also gave his take on it on The Draymond Green Show.

After the Lakers franchise witnessed a major leadership overhaul last year, the management has been looking to rebuild the team as well. They might look to add a younger defensive wing alongside Luka, who can add on the offensive end, and Kuminga fits that requirement.

Giannis’ frustration with the home crowd and the Bucks’ blowout losses have created an uncomfortable environment on the court and in the locker room, which is harmful for any team. The management might look to sort that out, and trading Giannis can be one of them.

Fans have had a taste of the King and the sharpshooter playing together, and the prospect of them getting a ring together can be the best possible ending to their careers. Add a 10-time All-Star and an explosive bucket getter like Giannis to the mix, and they can be a title-contending side.
