The final day of the NBA mid-season trade period has arrived, and several teams have made moves before the deadline. However, a few players who were rumored to be in trade talks are still awaiting the final verdict. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest names likely to be traded on the final day.
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo has been one of the hottest trade picks thus far and has been rumored to be associated with several teams. As the trade period progressed, a few teams, like the Miami Heat, showed less interest in the Greek forward. The Warriors were also in extensive talks with the Milwaukee Bucks to bring him, but nothing has materialized as of now. As the period approaches the end, there might be news about his next destination.
2. Ja Morant
Ja Morant was the next in line to be traded after Trae Young went to the capital. However, his value in the market seemed to have plunged due to his injury proneness and off-court antics. The Grizzlies instead decided to send Jaren Jackson Jr. before him to the Utah Jazz, where he will team up with Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler. While Morant still awaits news on his contract, he can get an update today.
3. Karl-Anthony Towns
Karl-Anthony Towns’ production has dipped severely after a good first season with the New York Knicks in 2024-25. Even though he was recently selected as the All-Star reserve from the Eastern Conference, KAT’s name has been rumored to be in trade talks. Some sources suggested that the Knicks front office, known for asset management, was looking to offload Towns’ contract and might look to make a push for Giannis. Although there is no confirmation on that yet, KAT might get a new team today.
4. Michael Porter Jr.
Michael Porter Jr. put the league on notice with his performance this season. He is averaging career-best numbers (25.5-7.3-3.2) and has been a one-man army on the squad. At the beginning of the trade period, he was believed to be a hot pick for several teams, but he has not garnered any interest as of now. The Brooklyn Nets are eyeing a potential first-round pick in this year’s stacked draft and might look to remain with MPJ and see how the offense turns out after the draft. There is still a day, though, and it’s not over until it’s all over.
5. Ivica Zubac
Ivica Zubac has joined the list of trade talks on the final day. The Clippers have already offloaded James Harden’s contract and might look to free up more cap space, as NBA analysts reported that the Indiana Pacers might be eyeing the center. He is on a 3-year, $59 million deal he signed last season with the Clips. Making a last-minute entry to the trade market, the Croatian center might get some news on the final day.
