NBA Draft Report: Utah Jazz Still Want Darryn Peterson Without a Meeting While AJ Dybantsa, Cam Boozer Remain Viable Options

With the 2026 NBA draft just a week away, there remains plenty of intrigue regarding the Utah Jazz’s No. 2 pick. According to NBA insider Tony Jones, the Jazz are still eyeing Darryn Peterson despite his decision to cancel a workout with them.

Jones reported that Peterson could be Utah-bound, even if he goes through with his plan to meet only with the Washington Wizards, who have the No. 1 selection.

“The Jazz, according to league sources, weren’t surprised by Peterson’s canceled workout. They anticipated it, on some levels. They also won’t hesitate to select Peterson if they determine the former Kansas star guard is the best player on the board when they pick,” Jones wrote for the New york times on Tuesday.

Jones added that, for the Jazz organization, there are strong reasons to consider either Dybantsa or Boozer in the event that one or both are available at the No. 2 spot.

“The Jazz are drawn to Peterson’s ability to score at a high level. They love Boozer’s ability to pass, rebound and process the game at a high level. That Boozer is firmly in the mix at No. 2 is a testament to how much the Jazz like him, being that he isn’t a clean positional fit.”

Across mock drafts on various outlets, Dybantsa is widely considered to be a lock as the No. 1 pick to the Wizards.

Report: Darryn Peterson Canceled Visit With Utah Jazz Due to “Confidence” That He’s Going No. 1

Interestingly, another report sheds light on a potential reason for Darryn Peterson’s decision not to meet with the Jazz.

According to Jazz insider Ben Anderson, Peterson’s camp is “very confident they are going No. 1” to the Wizards in this year’s draft.

Whether or not this is the mindset of Peterson’s camp, it doesn’t appear likely that the Kansas star will slip out of the top three when all is said and done.
