Michael Porter Jr.’s personal and professional life has been abuzz with chatter this season. On the court, he is having the best season of his career with the Brooklyn Nets, and off the court, he sparked several dating rumors with music artist Ice Spice. While fans were all in with the speculations of the Columbia native dating the 4-time Grammy-nominated artist, Porter Jr. has come clean on the subject.
Porter Jr. has had an eventful journey thus far in the NBA. He was drafted 14th overall in 2018 by the Denver Nuggets and developed every aspect of his game under 3-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic’s guidance. Even though he was a crucial wing in the Nuggets’ 2023 championship squad, he was traded to Brooklyn in return for Cameron Johnson.
This season has been a breakout year thus far for the Nets forward, and he has also made some new friends, as per him. While featuring on The Emily Austin Show, he opened up about his personal life when the host addressed the “elephant in the room.” Austin asked Porter Jr. if he was dating Ice Spice, and he replied:
“No, she’s a homie, yeah. We met at some event and she’s a homie and an amazing person, obviously very talented person, great person.”
Porter Jr.’s admission will surely calm the air around him and Ice Spice. However, his NBA tenure is still uncertain after several trade rumors loomed over him during the mid-season trade period.
Michael Porter Jr. leads the Nets to another rare win
Wins have been elusive for the Nets this season, as they have seemingly shut down the team for a rebuild and a probable top pick this offseason. However, in the last game, the team came back to stun the top seed of the Eastern Conference, the Pistons.
Porter Jr. posted a double-double with 30 points and 13 rebounds to take the Nets to a rare victory after a 10-game losing streak. Ziaire Williams and Day’Ron Sharpe combined for 36 points off the bench, as the team completed a surprising 23-point comeback to take the game away from the Pistons without Cade Cunningham.
Michael Porter Jr. now looks to the offseason, as he has made a statement with his performance after his trade from a championship team to a bottom-feeder. Only time will tell about his future in the league from hereon.
