Michael Porter Jr. of the 2025-26 season doesn’t seem to be the same player he was in Denver. Averaging career-best numbers (25.8-7.5-3.2) with the Brooklyn Nets, he has grabbed the league’s attention in the mid-season trade period. However, Nets fans had a unique request from Porter Jr. on social media.
Even with Porter Jr.’s stellar numbers, the Nets are 12-27 this season. The team has been at the bottom of the leaderboard for the last two seasons, and the only way seems to be a top draft pick next season. And the only way they can ensure that is by being at the bottom for another season.
Porter Jr. posted some glimpses of his practice with the Nets training staff on Instagram.
Highlighting the team management’s strategy, a Nets fan commented with a request on his latest social media post:
“Please get traded bro we need to lose and your not helping”
Michael Porter Jr. sarcastically replied to the fan’s comments and wrote:
“my fault”

Even though the Nets need some new energy to turn around their situation, playing badly on purpose is surely not the way. Porter Jr. became part of the Nuggets’ team strategy to free up some cap space and sign Cam Johnson. He seemed to have taken the task up to show his value on the court.
In the last game against the Chicago Bulls, the Nets broke their 5-game losing streak and came back from a 20-point lead to grab the win. Porter Jr. had a fantastic 26-point outing with seven rebounds, as he scored a go-ahead basket with 5.4 seconds to go.
Several teams have responded to his activity. Initially, the Warriors were also reported to have some interest, but recent reports have suggested otherwise.
Michael Porter Jr.’s probable trade prospects
Michael Porter Jr. has piqued the interest of several teams in the league. Even though the wingman can be a great addition to the Warriors’ roster, the team management might not look towards him for the same reason they turned down the Malik Monk package.
Expiring contracts are a major priority for the Warriors’ management, as ESPN analyst Shams Charania reported:
“They’ve declined the idea of taking back long-term contracts unless they view it as a no-brainer positive value.”
To fulfill their condition of expiring contracts, the Warriors might look towards the LA Lakers for a trade deal. One more destination Porter Jr. might be sent to is the Dallas Mavericks, who are looking to offload Anthony Davis’ contract. A news might be just around the corner for Michael Porter Jr.
