What is the longest 30-point streak in Los Angeles Lakers’ history?

Luka Doncic has had one of the most dominant seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers. Besides being at the top of the MVP conversation, the Slovenian guard has shattered numerous franchise records. And now, he is on the way to breaking another one if he keeps on with his latest 30-point streak.

The 6-time NBA All-Star has now had 11 consecutive 30-point games after he scored 46 points against the Indiana Pacers, leading the team to a 137-130 win. He also has the eighth-highest 30-point games in a season in the Lakers’ history. He has matched his own streak in the 2023-24 season in Dallas. But who has the longest 30-point run in the Lakers’ history?

Who has the longest 30-point streak in the Lakers’ franchise history?

No points for guessing, it’s Kobe Bryant. Yes, Black Mamba played 16 consecutive games, scoring 30 points or above for the Lakers in the 2002-03 season. Interestingly, the Lakers lost just three games in that stretch, which shows the kind of dominance and impact he had in that era.

While Bryant was drafted in 1996, Doncic came to the NBA in 2018. The 5-time NBA champion achieved this feat in his seventh season, and the 2018-19 Rookie of the Year is currently playing in his ninth. Both guards have the makings of a champion and a never-give-up attitude when it comes to basketball.

A lot has been said about Doncic’s defensive abilities, and a difference in stats is also visible. While the 2-time NBA Finals MVP averaged 2.2 steals per game in 2002-03, Doncic averages 1.6 in the current season. One more game with 30 points or more, and the Slovenian will achieve the longest streak of his career.

However, to break the 2008 NBA MVP’s record, Luka Doncic will need six more games, but the Lakers have just five remaining in the regular season. That means the Lakers guard can only try to tie the legendary Kobe Bryant’s record for now.
