Jamal Murray’s 53 Points and Nikola Jokic’s Near 20-20-20 Game Puts Fear in NBA Fans

With just a few weeks left before the playoffs, Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic need all the momentum they can get. On Wednesday, they got exactly just that as they put up incredible numbers as the Denver Nuggets took on the Dallas Mavericks.

Against the Mavericks, Murray posted the second-highest scoring output of his career by dropping 53 points while Jokic had a monster outing with 23 points, 21 rebounds, and 19 assists. On social media, fans expressed their awe of Murray’s and Jokic’s performances.

“Might be the best duo in basketball”

“jokic had 23/21/19 and he’s somehow the second best nugget tonight. that’s the scariest part of this box score”

    “jamal been ballin”

    “absolute powerhouse duo”

“Jamal has been phenomenal this year. Best season of his career”

“Video game numbers from these guys”

Though Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic have had their ups and downs over the past few years, their championship experience remains valuable as these two pillars of the Nuggets’ 2023 title squad gear up for another playoff run.

Murray, in particular, has been playing the best basketball of his NBA career this season. Named an All-Star for the first time ever, the 6-foot-4 guard is averaging career highs in points (25.4 ppg), assists (7.1 apg), field goal percentage (48.3%), and three-point field goal percentage (42.6%).

Meanwhile, Jokic (27.8 ppg, 12.8 rpg, 10.8 apg) is averaging a triple-double and building a strong case to win his fourth NBA MVP award. Beyond individual awards, though, Jokic and Murray are both focused on leading the Nuggets back to the promised land.

“From Nobody to Somebody”: Nikola Jokic Reflects on the Growth That He and Jamal Murray Have Achieved Together in Denver

After the game, Nikola Jokic looked back on the journey that he and Jamal Murray have shared as the cornerstones of the Nuggets franchise.

“From nobody to somebody, to a championship. And still growing, and still performing. The growth we’ve had together is something that’s really unique.”

From the looks of it, the Nuggets (46-28) are set to secure an outright playoff spot in the Western Conference. This will be Jokic and Murray’s sixth postseason together, and they are hoping that they can return to the grand stage of the NBA Finals in a few months’ time.
