Why Did Jamal Murray Leave the Court? Nuggets Coach Issues Major Update on All-Star’s Injury

The Denver Nuggets have been hit hard by injuries this season, and they faced another tense moment Saturday night when first-time All-Star Jamal Murray went down with a troubling injury against the Chicago Bulls.

    What happened to Murray?

David Adelman Issues Major Update on Jamal Murray’s Injury

With Denver cruising to a 136-120 win over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, Murray sparked concern among Nuggets fans when he left the game with four minutes remaining.

Holding a 125-112 lead, Murray pulled off a slick crossover, drove to the basket and finished a layup over new Bull Guerschon Yabusele, but he appeared to come down awkwardly, grimaced heading back on defense and then exited the game.

Murray made contact with Yabusele in the midsection while airborne and was able to walk off under his own power, but the moment inside the United Center was still unsettling.

After the game, Denver Post reporter Bennett Durando relayed comments from David Adelman regarding Murray’s status. The coach said he spoke with the Canadian guard afterward and shared:

“He seemed confident that he was OK.”

Adelman added that there was no reason to reinsert Murray into the game with Denver holding a comfortable double-digit lead late in the fourth quarter.

Earlier this month, Murray was named a reserve for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 15, at Intuit Dome. It marks the first All-Star selection of his career and makes him the 15th Nuggets player to earn the honor.

The Nuggets guard is posting career highs in points (25.9), assists (7.5) and rebounds (4.3) this season and has served as a stabilizing presence for Denver amid a wave of injuries.

Saturday’s victory over the Bulls snapped a three-game losing streak and allowed the Nuggets to finish their three-game road trip on a winning note.

Before the All-Star break, Denver will host the Cleveland Cavaliers and Memphis Grizzlies at home.
