Devin Booker is listed as questionable for the Phoenix Suns’ upcoming game against the Detroit Pistons. Booker has gone back to being the Suns’ leader since the team traded away Kevin Durant this summer.
He is doing a solid job, averaging 25.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. However, the past two games have been a struggle for him as he has averaged 20.5 ppg, shooting just 33.3%, including 22.2% from 3-point range.
The drop in performance could be attributed to his ankle. Suns coach Jordan Ott also noted that Booker was not feeling great after rolling his ankle during the team’s last game.
“Obviously, ankle roll, put him back in the fourth because we knew it was going to stiffen up,” Ott said. “As soon as he was ready, we could put him in. You could tell after some of his shots that when he landed, he wasn’t feeling great.”
“Just his toughness. That’s what this team is about. We follow our leader. He’s our leader. On the road, he did everything he could to put us in a position to try to win the game.”
Despite Booker’s best efforts in the last game, Phoenix lost 127-121 to the Miami Heat. The team will be hoping to get back on track against the Pistons on Thursday.
But the Suns’ cautious approach with injuries this season could mean that Booker will be sidelined against Detroit.
Devin Booker says he is playing better than a “lot of guys” ahead of him in All-Star voting
With the All-Star game coming up, fans have begun to cast their votes for the players that they wish to see in the star-studded event.
Devin Booker, who has been one of the best guards in the league this season, was ranked 17th in the Western Conference in the second fan voting returns.
Speaking after practice on Tuesday, Booker did not hold back as he cleared up his feelings on the fan vote. He expressed how he feels that he is better than other players on the list.
“It’s fan voting,” Booker said. “There are some super big market teams. There are guys from different countries who have a whole country behind them. I kind of understand the process, but am I playing better than a lot of guys? For sure, but that’s not the setup.”
Devin Booker has been selected to four All-Star teams in his career, appearing at the event in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024.
