The Denver Nuggets are set to redesign their entire roster, but Aaron Gordon is reportedly getting the most attention. The front office has made it clear that it is available to hold talks for any player on the team, except three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic. That would mean a complete dismantling of the 2022-23 championship team. And Gordon is the hottest piece in Denver.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype has suggested that Gordon has received a lot of attention from the Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers, and Boston Celtics. Though the Heat have already landed Greek superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Blazers might offer a package for Gordon if they fail to acquire Jaylen Brown from Boston.
Scotto wrote:
“The Portland Trail Blazers have expressed trade interest in Gordon should they not land Jaylen Brown, their preferred target, HoopsHype has learned. Ironically, the Celtics have also kept tabs on Gordon from afar.”
The Trail Blazers were in the trade market for their franchise face, Deni Avdija, but could not get a decent deal for the young star. Some sources also suggested that the Blazers were not ready to give up Avdija in the Giannis trade and might not include him in any package for Jaylen Brown.
This could make things difficult for the Celtics’ Brown trade, but propel the team toward Aaron Gordon. He has championship experience and an explosive playing style that can disrupt opponents even in clutch situations.
Aaron Gordon gets major attention in the offseason
Aaron Gordon signed a four-year, $113 million contract extension with the Nuggets in 2024 that is intended to keep him in Denver until the 2028-29 season, with a player option in the last year. He had a good 2025-26 season, averaging 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.
Gordon was bound to receive attention in the trade market, and that is evident. The Heat want him to pair with arguably the best frontcourt in the league, Bam Adebayo and Giannis. On the other hand, the Blazers and the Celtics are keeping a tab on him.
The Celtics have a short lineup, and some size is what they are looking for in the league, keeping their franchise face on the table. Meanwhile, the Nuggets have kept other options on the trade market as well: Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones.
Moreover, Jamal Murray, who is also on a four-year deal with the Nuggets, has also been speculated to be in talks with other teams. Only time will tell which way Aaron Gordon’s future will move in the coming days, as teams look to make important trade decisions in the offseason.
