NBA Insider Casts Doubt on Jalen Green’s Long-Term Future With Suns After Miles Bridges Trade

The future of Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green appears likely over in the Valley of the Sun, according to multiple NBA insiders.

The conversation around Green’s future has dominated NBA headlines throughout the offseason, but it intensified once again following the trade that sent Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges to the Suns on Sunday.

With another franchise cornerstone changing teams in pursuit of playoff contention, attention has shifted back toward the Suns and the star guard they acquired last year in the Kevin Durant deal.

ClutchPoints insider Brett Siegel gave a strong indication of Green’s future after the Miles Bridges trade.

“After this Miles Bridges trade and opening up access to their draft picks for the next four years in other trades, I’m starting to believe Jalen Green’s long-term future isn’t in Phoenix. This is a team that is positioning itself for a big move, whether it’s now or in months,” Siegel wrote on X.

Virtually every young player, like Green, has to spend time learning the ropes after their first major trade. That is why it wasn’t a real surprise to see the 24-year-old finish the 2025-26 season missing most of the games with injuries. He dealt with injury after injury that saw him average 17.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 32 games.

Ja Morant for Jalen Green Makes a Lot of Sense, Claims Insider

There have been multiple reports that the Phoenix Suns have been in on Ja Morant, which makes sense from a basketball standpoint. Morant and Devin Booker could complement each other incredibly well playing alongside one another in the backcourt.

On Sunday, NBA insider Evan Sidery observed:

The Suns make a lot of sense now as a potential Ja Morant trade destination with their lone remaining need at point guard,” he wrote on X. “A straight up swap of Jalen Green for Ja and Phoenix’s 2031 1st back, which Memphis acquired in the Jaren Jackson Jr. trade, would help out both sides here.”

Ironically, the timing comes as Phoenix appears to be approaching the intriguing stages of its lengthy rebuild. The organization upgraded its roster last season but still needs a few more pieces, and acquiring Morant would be a massive step forward to truly compete in the West.

Whether Memphis ultimately emerges as the frontrunner in negotiations remains to be seen, but the latest trade rumor has shifted the conversation significantly, as many around the league are now beginning to focus on what a Morant package could look like.
