Insider Reports Major Reason Behind Jaylen Brown’s Shocking Move to 76ers For Paul George

In an offseason already teeming with blockbuster movements, Jaylen Brown made headlines by getting traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. Just a season ago, Brown was playing the best basketball of his life as he led the Boston Celtics to an unlikely 56-win finish.

However, the Celtics front office apparently soured on their former Finals MVP. According to insider Tony Jones, Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens was no longer enamored with his star player.

“He [Brown] is also polarizing, thoughtful, well-spoken, outspoken, expensive and had apparently fallen so out of favor with Brad Stevens and the rest of Boston’s front office that he was traded for relative pennies on the dollar.”

After the Celtics made an early exit in the 2026 playoffs, there were rumors that the five-time All-Star was disgruntled with the team.

Though Basketball Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady claimed that Brown’s frustration “lies deeply within the organization,” Stevens downplayed the situation, saying that Brown had not personally “expressed those frustrations” to him.

When Brown said in a live stream that the 2025-26 campaign was his “favorite year,” he reportedly ruffled more feathers within the Celtics organization, who were still reeling from the first-round exit. Now, Brown will be starting a new chapter of his career with the team responsible for cutting the Celtics’ postseason short.

“A Trade Made Under Duress”: Brian Windhorst Echoes Bold Claim Regarding Jaylen Brown Deal

Across the NBA community, there are those who wonder how the Sixers were able to acquire a player of Brown’s caliber in exchange for the package dealt to Boston. In this trade, the Celtics got a 36-year-old Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks.

According to insider Brian Windhorst, there’s something to the uncanny nature of this Sixers-Celtics trade.

“This is just the league speculation, this is not reporting, but I don’t dispute it. This is a trade that was made under duress. This was not a trade that you would make in a clinical setting.”

Windhorst did not disclose any more specifics about the “duress” faced by either team, saying that fans will have to wait and see “what gets said about it.”
