Over the past few weeks, Jaylen Brown has squared off against more than one adversary from the media community. For one, there’s Kendrick Perkins, who claimed that Brown’s teammates in Boston don’t vibe with him. There’s also Stephen A. Smith, who called out the Celtics star for saying that the 2025-26 season (which ended in a first-round exit) was his “favorite.”
The criticism from Perkins and Smith hasn’t sat well with Brown’s father Marselles. A 7-foot former world champion in boxing, Marselles stopped by the radio show Sway in the Morning this weekend to take jabs at the two personalities and the network they work for.
“Big Perk, you’re wrong for jumping against your teammate…Watch your mouth, boy…I’m getting in your face, Stephen A. Yeah, I’m coming to see you. Stephen A., I called you a couple of times, and you didn’t answer…Why are you attacking him? Why do you attack the Black community? Go attack the White community. Oh, that’s right, you’re getting the check to do that.”
Last week, the former Finals MVP himself called Smith and ESPN “unethical” in light of their response to his “favorite season” comments. In response, Smith said that it was “pathetic” for Brown to deliver this rebuke while the Celtics forward was overseas.
The offseason is just getting started, and from the looks of it, this beef between Brown and two prominent names at ESPN isn’t going away any time soon.
Report: Western Conference Team Has Emerged as “Front-Runner” to Land Jaylen Brown
Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown’s name continues to pop up in trade rumors. According to insider Sam Amick, one Western Conference team has good odds of landing the five-time All-Star.
“The Celtics, per league sources, have been asking for up to four first-round picks; Portland is seen as the front-runner there.”
If the Blazers do pull off this trade, they would essentially be mortgaging their future in exchange for an All-NBA player who had an MVP-type season this past year.
