“If A Team Wants To Hang A Banner In The Rafters, I’m The Guy”: Cameron Boozer Makes Massive Statement After NBA Draft Lottery Shakes Up Future Landing Spot

Cameron Boozer is one of the top prospects for the 2026 NBA Draft, and he made a big statement after the league announced the lottery. The Washington Wizards were awarded the top pick this offseason, followed by the Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies. And Boozer gave a confident response to teams looking for a franchise face.

The Duke Blue Devils player is one of the most sought-after power forwards in college, averaging 22.5 points and 10.1 rebounds last season with an elite shooting percentage of 55.6% from the field and 39.1% from deep. In his conversation with AndscapeBoozer said:

“Whether I go 1, 2 or 3 or whatever the case may be, I think winning and what I bring to the team, my resume, it shows for itself. If a team wants to hang a banner in the rafters, I’m definitely the guy.”

All of the top-4 picking teams need a franchise face and someone who can light the hope of a title. The Wizards have struggled to form a stable roster and contend for the championship since the 2016-17 team that made it to the conference semifinals, being led by John Wall and Bradley Beal. The last time they made it to the playoffs was the 2020-21 season, when they were ousted in Round 1.

The Utah Jazz already have a talented forward in Lauri Markkanen, and it doesn’t seem like they are ready to part ways with him. The Grizzlies have moved Jaren Jackson Jr. in the midseason trade period and might be interested in acquiring him, given he’s available till the third pick. Meanwhile, Jay Williams thinks he might be available even after the top-3 picks.

Jay Williams says Cameron Boozer can fall out of Top 3 picks

Former NBA player-turned-analyst Jay Williams believed that the top three teams in the lottery could pick AJ Dybantsa, Darry Peterson, and Caleb Wilson, leaving Cameron Boozer for the Chicago Bulls. Answering his picks for the top five spots in the NBA Draft, the analyst kept Darius Acuff Jr. at the last spot.

Williams had high hopes for Wilson and even predicted that he would go on to become one of the biggest stars from this year’s draft class. The 2026 class is filled with talented names across the board, similar to how the 2018 draft went with Luka Doncic, Deandre Ayton, Trae Young, Kevin Porter Jr., and many other stars coming out from that year.
