“How is This Guy in the HOF?”: NBA Fans Baffled With Doc Rivers Reportedly Boasting About Resume in Bucks’ Locker Room Outburst

NBA insider Shams Charania reported on Tuesday that there is a disconnect between the Milwaukee Bucks players and their coach, Doc Rivers. Charania wrote that Rivers implored the team to look at his resume on Google, a last-ditch effort to push the team to compete for at least a play-in tournament berth.

Charania’s report quickly went viral, prompting fans to react. One fan wrote:

“How is this guy in the HOF?”

    Another fan added:

“They did and now they’re even more disconnected.”

    One more fan continued:

    “Bro thinks he’s Shaq.”

    Another fan commented:

“Holding on to that 2008 championship is crazy.”

    One fan tweeted:

“Blew multiple 3-1 leads and is riding off the coat tails of one single championship.”

Doc Rivers’ locker room outburst came roughly a month before the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced its inductees on Friday. Rivers will join eight other contributors who will go to Hoophall in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The 64-year-old coach has 1,180 career wins, sixth most among coaches in NBA history. Rivers’ 114 playoff victories put him fourth on the list. He led the Boston Celtics to back-to-back NBA Finals appearances, winning the championship in 2008.

According to Shams Charania, Rivers told his players that he thought he would guide the Bucks to a championship. Unfortunately, Milwaukee hasn’t won a playoff series with Rivers at the helm. He could be dismissed by the Bucks following a season without even a play-in tournament appearance.

Doc Rivers sidelined Bucks players for “not playing hard,”: Report

Doc Rivers boasted about his resume to Milwaukee Bucks players after the team lost 120-97 to the Chicago Bulls, according to Shams Charania. Rivers was pissed off after the Bucks gave up a 16-point third-quarter lead to lose by 23 points.

According to the ESPN analyst, Rivers warned his players:

“Either you’re with us or against us. If you’re not playing hard, we’re not playing you anymore.”

Charania continued that Kyle Kuzma was highlighted by Rivers during a film session. Less than 24 hours after the Bucks lost to the Bulls, they hosted the Celtics, with Kuzma not seeing action.

Milwaukee went down 108-81 to Boston, another loss that epitomized the Bucks’ tumultuous season.
