Heat vs Jazz Preview and Prediction
Preview
The Heat’s road run this season has been dismal, winning just eight of its 23 total road games. Tyler Herro has been out due to his rib injury and has played just 11 games this season. A lot of responsibility has fallen on Bam Adebayo and Norman Powell.
Adebayo’s production, averaging 17.6 points and 9.6 rebounds, has not been consistent, and hence, the Heat has suffered offensively. Powell leads the franchise in points (23.5), averaging career-high numbers (23.5-3.6-2.6). The last time the Miami side was in Utah, they won the game 97-92, on the back of 23 points from Herro and 20 from Jaime Jaquez Jr.
The Utah Jazz have had an even worse season thus far, winning just one game in their previous 10. Lauri Markkanen, who leads the franchise in points, is averaging a career-high 27.9 points and 7.2 rebounds. This has led to trade talks around his name, as he has piqued the interest of several teams.
The team has slowly moved to the bottom of the standings and is in 13th place in the Western Conference. Keyonte George had a career night on January 20 against the Timberwolves, as he scored 43 points to break the Jazz’s 4-game losing streak.
Prediction
Although George, who was drafted 16th overall in the 2023 NBA draft, is growing into a fine player, leading the franchise in assists, the team has not found its winning ways. The absence of Markkanen has not helped them either.
The Heat, on the other hand, are desperate to make a return and might get a play-in chance. They are also reportedly pursuing Jonathan Kuminga, aiming to make a deep playoff run, who will add to their defense and give them an option on the wing. With the Heat and Jazz faceoff tied at 1-1 this season, Miami will look to improve its road run
Prediction: The Heat win by six points.
