Jaylen Brown’s social media activity amid buzzing trade rumors on Saturday received mixed reactions from Boston Celtics fans. Brown first called out ESPN’s Bobby Marks’ report. An analytics person told Marks that the Celtics star would be the seventh-best player on a team, causing “mixed feelings” among his suitors.
Brown pointed out that he was the winningest player in the regular season and playoffs combined with a 191-80 record since his debut. He also ripped analytics, claiming it was “ruining the game.” After his rant on X, Brown reshared a reel on Instagram, saying he was the best player on the Celtics’ 2024 championship team.
“”This guy was the best player on a team that won a championship,” the narrator in the reel said. “Last year, you could make a serious argument that he should have been a first-team All-NBA player. He led the Celtics to the two seed in the East. He averaged over 26 points per game. … In a season that should have been a throwaway year for the Celtics.”
Celtics fans have mostly backed Jaylen Brown amid the trade saga since he was involved in the reported Giannis Antetokounmpo package. However, some took exception after Brown shared this reel on his Instagram.

One of the major reasons behind that was the “sneak diss” at Jayson Tatum since he’s widely considered the Celtics’ best player, but Brown still chose to promote a narrative that suggests otherwise.
One fan said:
“Here is the video Jaylen reposted btw. This is getting ugly.”
More reactions followed:
Not all Celtics fans had the same opinion. A few still supported Brown against the criticism.
Seven teams are targeting Jaylen Brown as per latest trade rumors
Jaylen Brown is drawing heavy interest in the trade market. According to Sunday’s report from Hoops Hype’s Michael Scotto, the Portland Trail Blazers, Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, and LA Clippers are among the teams battling for a deal.
Brown has been a perennial All-Star for several seasons, but over the last three years, his stock has increased. He’s cemented himself as one of the best two-way players, or arguably even the best perimeter two-way player. It started with him winning the NBA Finals MVP over Jayson Tatum in 2024, followed by Brown leading Boston to the second seed last year against expectations.
It’s not surprising that teams are showing significant interest and are willing to make serious offers for the Celtics All-Star.
