Giannis Antetokounmpo and his love for Milwaukee are well known, and he has never been shy to express his emotions. Lately, the Greek Freak has had a mix of emotions with the team, as he highlighted a lack of chemistry in the rotation. Amid trade rumors around his name, the forward opened up about his wishes regarding the move.
Giannis was sidelined due to a calf injury, and trade talks around his name have been ongoing after he felt dissatisfied with the Bucks squad. Joining the pre-game presser, the forward explained his mentality and his love for the city. He said:
“What I want deep down in my heart is I want to be a Milwaukee Buck for the rest of my career and win here.”
Giannis gave an emotional detail about his attachment to the team and Wisconsin. He added:
“My father is buried here. So tell me you, when I open the passport of my kids and it says born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, my dad is buried here, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. So people have the audacity to come tell me and say ‘this guy really doesn’t love Milwaukee.’ I don’t love Milwaukee?”
The 10-time All-Star’s emotional state of mind perfectly explains the mindset of players involved in trades, especially those who have been in a city for the majority of their career. More so, for someone like Giannis, who has had only part of one team his entire career.
The Warriors have been reportedly in talks with the Bucks to frame a package allegedly for Giannis. There is only one day until the trade period closes, and fans wait with bated breath, anticipating a news destination for the Greek forward.
Several teams look to land Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Miami Heat, the Warriors, the Houston Rockets, the LA Lakers, the New York Knicks, and other teams are rumored to be in pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo, a hot commodity in the trade market. However, a few teams have allegedly even clarified their stance on him.
Giannis can bolster the backcourt of any team and improve any squad into a championship-contending side. The Knicks have been his favorite destination since before the 2025-26 season, but the Warriors are the frontrunners of this race with big contracts to offer.
The second-last day of the mid-season trade was filled with updates, as James Harden was sent to Cleveland while Jaren Jackson Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies was traded to Utah. It’s not clear that the Bucks are looking to move Giannis before the deadline or in the off-season. However, the time for thinking is now almost over.
