Taylor Jenkins has yet to coach a game for the Milwaukee Bucks, but he already has a controversy on his hands. On Friday, reports emerged that newly acquired Bucks guard Tyler Herro was involved in a physical altercation with his former teammate, Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo.
When Jenkins joined SiriusXM’s coverage of the Las Vegas Summer League, he was asked to shed light on the Herro-Adebayo situation. The Bucks head coach, however, would not oblige.
“No comment. I don’t really know all the specifics.”
While Jenkins remained tight-lipped on the matter, several media outlets reported details of the incident that allegedly took place at a gym inside Las Vegas’ Resorts World Casino.
According to a report by The Athletic, Adebayo entered a gym where Herro and his AAU team were. Herro allegedly said something to Adebayo, which prompted the 6-foot-9 center to punch the ex-Heat guard.
Herro’s AAU coach reportedly got involved as he “confronted” Adebayo. Both All-Star players were said to have walked away from the scene, though Herro allegedly continued to berate Adebayo.
Herro and Adebayo were in Las Vegas for the start of Summer League action. The Bucks and the Heat played their scheduled Summer League matchup, and the Heat won 119-86.
Heat Guard Appears to Taunt Newly Acquired Bucks Players After Summer League Win
A clip from Friday’s Bucks-Heat game suggests that sparks will continue to fly between these two Eastern Conference teams.
In the clip, Heat guard Davion Mitchell appeared to taunt Bucks players Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kel’el Ware by staring at them from the Miami bench. Mitchell is also seen doing the “raise the roof” gesture in this video.
Herro, Jaquez, and Ware were all included in the trade package sent to Milwaukee in exchange for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis.
For what it’s worth, the video also shows Jaquez reciprocating Mitchell’s taunt by doing a thumbs down gesture, then smiling afterward.
