A rumor that Anthony Edwards refused a romantic date with WNBA star Angel Reese, even if he had to pay half a million dollars, went viral on social media. The two players were earlier rumored to be in close contact due to social media interactions, but nothing about their personal relationship was confirmed.
A user on Instagram shared a screenshot of Edwards’ reply to a question on X about which he would prefer between dating Reese and giving away $500,000. As per the post, Edwards wrote:
“I mean, it’s a lot. But if I have to pay half a mil to avoid dating her, I guess I pay it.”
The post in question seems to be fake, as there is no such comment on his X timeline. Moreover, the 2023 NCAA champion and the Minnesota Timberwolves guard have had a cordial relationship. Edwards even supported Reese amid the online criticism and comparisons she faced in her rookie season.
The Wolves continue the winning run even without Anthony Edwards
Anthony Edwards has been out of the rotation for a week now due to inflammation in his right knee, but the team has won three out of four games since then. The Wolves won their last game against the Boston Celtics on the back of an efficient shooting night from Bones Hyland, scoring 23 points off the bench and shooting 8-14.
The Wolves look to feature in the play-ins this season and would likely face the Portland Trail Blazers. The team would need the services of Edwards if they want to go deeper in the postseason. Moreover, Ayo Dosunmu has also been labeled questionable for the next game due to a calf injury.
With a healthy squad, the Wolves seem to be far better than the Blazers. Ant-Man and Co. will have to overcome the injury challenges soon to grab a spot in the playoffs. Even though Julius Randle scored just nine points and nine rebounds in the win against the Celtics, the forward will have to take up more responsibility in the absence of the franchise face and other crucial pieces in the remaining games of the regular season.
