Dallas Mavericks vs San Antonio Spurs Preview and Prediction

With their hopes of even making the play-in tournament long gone, the Dallas Mavericks saw their season effectively come to an end weeks ago. To their credit, they didn’t raise the white flag. They kept Cooper Flagg and several role players in the rotation, but it didn’t translate into results. Since the start of March, Dallas has struggled badly, going just 4-17 and slipping to 13th in the Western Conference with a 25-55 record.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been on the opposite end of the spectrum. They caught fire at the right time, going 17-2 over that same stretch while battling the OKC Thunder for the top spot in the West. Although they fell short of securing the #1 seed, they still surpassed 60 wins in a season, achieving the feat for the first time since 2016-2017.

The head-to-head matchup has been completely one-sided. The Spurs have dominated all three meetings this season, winning by an average of 19.3 points per game.

Looking at the bigger picture, the gap between these teams is hard to ignore. The Mavericks are missing several role players, their form has been poor, and their road record sits at 10-29. On the other hand, the Spurs have been strong at home with a 31-7 record.

Everything points to San Antonio comfortably taking this game as well and completing the season series sweep.

Prediction: Expect the Spurs to win by 15 points.
