Dallas Mavericks vs LA Clippers Preview and Prediction
The Dallas Mavericks saw their playoff hopes fade early in the second half of the season, as they were officially eliminated from play-in contention. Things only went downhill after the All-Star break, with the team going 6-18 since. However, one bright spot has been Cooper Flagg, who has been on an incredible run as of late. Just days after dropping 51 points against the Orlando Magic on Apr. 3, he followed it up with 45 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists in a 134-128 win over the LA Lakers on Apr. 5.
On the other side, the LA Clippers have quietly put together a strong stretch, losing just two of their last eight games. That run has pushed them to a 40-38 record and into the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings.
When these two teams have met this season, the games have been competitive. The average margin across their three matchups is only 5.6 points per game.
Their first meeting on Nov. 14 turned into a double overtime battle, with the Clippers coming out on top 133-127. The Mavericks answered back on Nov. 29 with a 114-110 win, powered by Flagg’s 35 points and eight rebounds. Their most recent game on Mar. 21 went to overtime again, where the Clippers regained control of the season series with a 138-131 win.
So far, the teams have alternated wins, but that pattern looks likely to break this time. The Clippers come in as the stronger and healthier team, and they have been much more reliable at home with a 21-17 record. The Mavericks, meanwhile, have struggled on the road at 10-27.
