Charlotte Hornets vs Boston Celtics Preview and Prediction

The Charlotte Hornets have made a strong push to stay in the playoff race during the second half of the season. Since the All-Star break, they’ve gone 17-7, including winning nine of their last 11 games. That surge has lifted them to the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference with a 43-36 record, just half a game behind the #6 Toronto Raptors.

The Boston Celtics have been just as impressive lately, also going 9-2 over the past three weeks. While they are no longer in contention for the top seed in the East, they have virtually secured the number two seed, sitting 2.5 games ahead of the third-place New York Knicks.

The season series between these teams is tied 1-1, though neither game was particularly close. The Hornets opened things up with a dominant 118-89 win on Mar. 4, powered by LaMelo Ball, Kon Knueppel, and Brandon Miller, who combined for 56 points.

Later in the month, on Mar. 29, the Celtics responded with a convincing 114-99 victory. Even without Derrick White and Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Payton Pritchard stepped up in a big way, combining for 60 points and 14 assists.

With both teams playing well recently and expected to be at full strength, this matchup should be the most competitive one yet. However, Boston’s strong home record of 27-11 gives them a slight edge.

Prediction: Expect the Celtics to win by 2 points.
