The OKC Thunder has been surrounded by controversies in the 2025-26 NBA season. Many believed that the league gives preferential treatment to the team, especially in officiating. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has continuously been criticized for his foul-baiting techniques during games. However, this time, a different controversy has come to light.
A user on X shared a video in which the NBA’s official website mentioned the Thunder as the finals-bound team alongside the New York Knicks, who have already cruised through to the NBA Finals in four games in the Eastern Conference finals.
The user wrote:
“Explain yourself @NBA
NBA FINALS BOUND in the STORE.. KNICKS & THUNDER…….. HUH?????????????????????????????????”
The creator, shown in the video, opened the website live and highlighted the league’s mistake that has led fans to raise serious questions. Another user wrote:
“@nba rigging the games for OKC which is crazy”
One Thunder fan stated that the San Antonio Spurs fans have got an excuse for their dismal performance and wrote:
“Spurs fans about to blame every missed shot on Adam Silver personally”
Another user suggested that the NBA might take action against whoever was responsible for the mix-up and wrote:
“Somebody at the NBA store definitely getting fired tomorrow”
One more user questioned the NBA and wrote:
“Explain yourself @NBA because this looking suspicious as hell”
The Thunder and the Spurs are currently tied in the WC Finals series, which makes the mistake even more glaring. There is no reason to make any speculation.
The Thunder return home for important Game 5
The Thunder will return to Paycom Center for an important Game 5 against the Spurs. After back-to-back losses in the WC Finals series, the Spurs answered big, defensively, limiting the Thunder to 82 points. The team deflected the ball 11 times and made 10 blocks, compared to their opponents’ nine steals and five blocks.
Victor Wembanyama was back in his bag with 33 points and eight rebounds. Moreover, D’Aaron Fox, who missed the first two games, was full of energy on the board. He scored 12 points in 31 minutes but grabbed 10 rebounds.
On the other hand, OKC’s roster had a bad day, shooting the ball. The team shot 6-of-33 from deep, and no player reached the 20-point mark. The Spurs will now go back on the road, looking to extend their winning run and continue the defensive effort they have shown in the series.
