Chris Paul Throws Massive Shade at Ref Scott Foster Amid Polarizing Spurs-Thunder WCF Series

Chris Paul has played for both the San Antonio Spurs and the OKC Thunder, and it just so happens that these two teams are squaring off with a spot in the NBA Finals on the line. Paul’s career came to an abrupt end earlier this season, but this week, he’s found a way to become relevant in the conversation surrounding the Western Conference Finals.

As the Spurs and the Thunder slugged it out in Game 4, CP3 came across a hilarious tweet about his old nemesis, senior official Scott Foster. Paul opted to post an IG story sharing this tweet, which joked about Foster trying to figure out which team the “Point God” is rooting for in the WCF.

There are layers to this joke that Chris Paul has echoed on his social media platform. For one, there’s his longstanding beef with Foster; according to ESPN, Paul holds a playoff record of 3-17 when Foster is part of the officiating crew.

Then, there’s Foster’s own reputation in the postseason. Fans have called him “The Extender” due to the perception that he intentionally “extends” playoff series by blowing his whistle in favor of certain teams.

Notwithstanding this joke directed at Foster, the Western Conference Finals is now guaranteed to get to a Game 6. The Spurs soundly defeated the Thunder in Game 4, and with both teams tied at two wins apiece, details like the officiating will come under even closer scrutiny.

“The Mission Is Always Bigger Than You”: Chris Paul Delivers Inspiring Message as Commencement Speaker

Last week, Chris Paul had a more serious message to deliver as he fulfilled his role as commencement speaker for Morehouse College. In his speech, Paul drew from the challenges that he faced as an NBA player.

“The mission is always bigger than you. Once, I got traded, and I found out on ESPN. Not even a phone call…I wanted to channel my energy in a productive way. I got in the gym. I got to work. Then, I called the [GM] in Oklahoma to get every teammate’s number. I’m all in.”

Paul added that he was confident enough to think that his teams would always have a chance, as long as he was on the court.
