“Ballet of Broken Dreams”: Fans Mock Dillon Brooks for Talking Trash to Kevin Durant Before Rockets Star Put Suns Enforcer on Skates

Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant and Phoenix Suns guard Dillon Brooks had a testy encounter on Tuesday. Midway through the second quarter, the former eagerly responded when the latter started talking trash to him. Durant punctuated his reply by faking a drive to his left before going right and dropping Brooks to the floor.

The viral sequence earned reactions from fans. One fan wrote:

“Trash talk is just a prelude to a ballet of broken dreams.”

    Another fan added:

“Buddy hit the James Brown. lmao.”

    One more fan continued:

“This is why you don’t talk s**t unless you can actually back up your claim.”

    Another fan commented:

“KD took Brooks’ virginity by force.”

    One fan tweeted:

“The biggest L he took all year.”

The matchup was Durant’s first game in Phoenix after the Suns traded him to the Rockets in the offseason in a historic seven-team deal. Brooks, Jalen Green and the Khaman Maluach (No. 10 pick) were the biggest returns for the former MVP.

Kevin Durant said heading into the game that he was “sour” after the Suns allegedly made him the scapegoat for their struggles. He added that he has “pretty much over it,” and emphasized that he understood the “business of the league.”

Fans inside the Mortgage Matchup Center both booed and cheered for Durant when he was introduced. As soon as the game started, most of the in-arena fans lustily wanted to antagonize him.

Kevin Durant kept his head in the game despite the fans’ whistles, Dillon Brooks’ bruising defense, and the Suns’ fiery start. KD led his team to a 119-105 come-from-behind win in a place he once called home.

Kevin Durant, Rockets Shook off Lethargic Start To Beat Dillon Brooks and Suns

Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets got off to a lethargic start in Phoenix. KD made 1 of 6 shots and committed two turnovers. Durant’s shooting woes and errors only made the boos grow louder. Seeing KD stutter only emboldened Dillon Brooks to taunt and talk trash to Durant.

After trailing 37-21 in the first quarter, Durant started the team’s rally. He delivered 11 points, three rebounds and two assists in the second frame. Houston’s impressive response cut Phoenix’s lead to 57-54 at halftime.

The Rockets completed the turnaround in the second half, dominating the home team 65-48. Durant finished with 24 points, four rebounds and three assists. Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun combined for 34 points, 25 rebounds and 14 assists to help give KD a rousing return to Phoenix.
