Are Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont Willing To Sell Mavericks? New Report Gives Major Insight as Mark Cuban Plots Move

Nearly 25 months after selling a controlling stake in the Dallas Mavericks to Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont, Mark Cuban is once again making headlines, this time for reportedly exploring a path to buy the team back.

As speculation continues to grow about Cuban potentially teaming up with a private investment group to regain control of the franchise, a spokesperson for the Adelson and Dumont families responded to the reports.

According to the spokesperson, the Mavericks are not on the market. The spokesperson also emphasized the ownership group’s long-term vision and dedication to building a title contender in Dallas.

“The Dumont and Adelson families remain fully committed to the Dallas Mavericks franchise and to the Dallas community,” the spokesperson said. “They remain focused on building a championship organization for the long term.”

In December 2023, Mark Cuban sold a 73% stake in the Mavericks to the Adelson and Dumont families for a reported $3.5 billion. As part of the deal, he stepped away from day-to-day control and gave up his position as the team’s governor on the NBA Board of Governors.

Although a legitimate source, Marc Stein of The Stein Line, has reported that Cuban is looking at ways to regain control of the franchise, neither Cuban nor his representatives has publicly addressed the news.

Fans react to reports of Mark Cuban wanting to buy back the Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have gone through some drastic changes since Mark Cuban stepped down as majority owner. First came the trading of Luka Doncic, a move many still consider one of the most shocking in NBA history. The return package centered around Anthony Davis, but that experiment never really took off. Davis played just 29 games in Dallas before the team pulled the plug and sent him to the Washington Wizards ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

Now, a franchise that once looked like a legitimate title contender is fighting just to clinch a play-in spot.

That’s why even the slightest buzz about Cuban possibly returning as majority owner has fans excited, hoping that he could help revive the Mavericks.

“DON’T GET ME TOO EXCITED STEIN,” @NationMffl said.

    “Come home Luka,” @Mavs_FFL wrote.

“This may be the best thing for the future of the Mavericks,” @NBABoards said.

“I will buy season tickets if Cuban is back at the top,” @xcdres2 said.

“This would genuinely fix EVERYTHING,” @lynziekate wrote.

“This would bring Luka back,” @iBEsteVieD13 said.

Currently, the Mavericks are placed 12th in the Western Conference standings, boasting a 19-34 record.
