Cooper Flagg Injury Update: Mavericks Announce Major Update as Rookie Set to Miss Lakers and 2026 All-Star Rising Stars Games

Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg will not suit up on Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers or on Friday in the 2026 NBA All-Star Rising Stars Game. The Rookie of the Year favorite is dealing with a left midfoot sprain, leading to his absence over his next two games. Flagg could return to action next week once the regular season resumes following the All-Star break.

Here’s what the Mavericks updated said:

“The Mavericks announced today that forward/guard Cooper Flagg underwent an MRI that revealed a left midfoot sprain. The injury occurred in Dallas’ game at PHX on Tuesday. Flagg will miss the team’s game at LAL on Thursday as well as the 2026 Castrol Rising Stars game on Friday.”

Flagg was listed as doubtful for the game against the Lakers before being ruled out. He was supposed to suit up for Carmelo Anthony’s team in the Rising Stars tournament, alongside Reed Sheppard, Stephon Castle, Dylan Harper, Jeremiah Fears, Donovan Clingan and Collin Murray-Boyles.

Flagg has played 49 of the Mavericks’ 53 games, averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals on 48.2% shooting from the field.
