LeBron James to the Cleveland Cavaliers rumors have been circulating online ever since reports hinted that the superstar may be nearing the end of his illustrious career. Even though there has been no official report about a possible return to his first-ever franchise, James recently sparked buzz on social media with his thoughts on the Cavaliers following the trade deadline.
Cleveland made several notable roster moves ahead of the Feb. 5 deadline, and the activity clearly caught James’ attention. The additions of James Harden, Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis left him impressed, and he believes that the moves showcased the front office’s intent in making a serious push toward contending for the 2026 NBA championship.
“They’re going for it,” James told Steve Nash on their Mind The Game podcast. “They felt like they needed another playmaker, someone that’s been there, kind of been in this situation before, and they added James (Harden). Perennial All-Star, who’s still putting up All-Star numbers, gives Donovan Mitchell another ball-handler guy who can make shots late in the game.”
But also those pickups that they got from Sac (Kings) as well. You know, Schroder, a former teammate of mine, you know that’s going to compete every single night, and Keon Ellis, a guy who’s going to compete, make shots.”
Fans erupted with reactions to this clip, speculating that James was only lauding his eventual future team.
“He’ll be praising them more when they add this up and coming kid called LeBron James to that core this summer too,” @defaultistic said.
“Harden, Mitchell, James, Mobley, Allen I just had to type it out myself,” @TerryMcMo wrote.
“He’s coming home…again,” @Former_Island_4730 said.
“Lebron “My Next Chapter” James,” @_Tar_Ar_Ais_ said.
“LeBron knows what he is doing. Gotta be the center of attention by playing into rumors,” @Ok-Reach-2580 said.
“The decision 3! He’s signing with Polymarket and taking a bite out of the Big Apple,” @Commercial-East4069 wrote.
Now that the trade deadline has passed, any talk about LeBron James potentially reuniting with the Cleveland Cavaliers will have to wait until the offseason. For the time being, the focus for both James and the Cavs is on the ongoing season.
Donovan Mitchell expresses desire to share Cavaliers locker room with LeBron James
Just when it seemed like LeBron James’ recent comments about Cleveland’s bright future had already stirred up enough chatter online, Donovan Mitchell stepped in and added fuel to the fire.
Mitchell was asked about the idea of potentially teaming up with James. While he did not shy away from the excitement of that possibility, he also made it clear where his focus is right now.
“As a Bron fan, to be able to be a teammate, that would obviously be special, but that’s not something in my control,” Mitchell told SiriusXM NBA Radio. “I control what we got here. There’s always going to be reports, that’s natural, it’s gonna be a thing.”
“My main focus right now is trying to get this championship. And whatever it happens, it happens. Like, that’s not up to me, that’s not up to anybody else in the locker room. So I’m big on believing what I can control. But yeah, it’s LeBron James, right?”
