NASCAR legend Richard Petty has announced the 30th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America at the EchoPark Speedway ahead of the Cup Series race in Atlanta.
The Kyle Petty Charity Ride began in 1995 when Kyle Petty turned his love for motorcycles into a charity event. Petty and a handful of friends rode from North Carolina to Phoenix, Arizona, for a NASCAR event. The group grew along the route, and that first trek planted the seed for what would become a long-running charity tradition.
Each year, the ride takes a different path. For the 30th anniversary, the Kyle Petty Charity Ride will start in Sonoma, California, and finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina. The nine-day schedule will run from May 1 until May 9 through 11 states and stretches more than 3,400 miles. Organizers expect about 150 motorcycles.
Over the past 29 years, thousands of riders have joined the annual trek and raised over $23 million in funds to support life-changing experiences for children at Victory Junction.
