Brad Keselowski Faces Medical And Physical Tests To Determine COTA Availability After Broken Femur

Brad Keselowski is set to undergo medical and physical exams this week to decide if he can compete at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) next month. The RFK Racing co-owner and driver will race at EchoPark Speedway today (February 22) but is unsure about racing at the road course as he continues recovery from an offseason broken femur.

Keselowski suffered the serious injury on December 18 after a fall while on a family ski trip in Boone, North Carolina. The broken femur required surgery and he missed the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium and tapped Corey LaJoie as a replacement driver for the exhibition event. The 2012 NASCAR Cup Series champion returned for the Daytona and finished fifth after an evaluation test at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Ahead of the Autotrader 400 at EchoPark, Keselowski told Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass that he will wait on more tests next week before making a final call about COTA participation.

“I’m just going to see how I feel. You know, I’ve got some more stuff to test next week to get through with a medical test and a physical test. We’ll probably just see how those go, and make a decision on what’s best for me,” Brad Keselowski said on Saturday.

To prepare for all outcomes, RFK Racing has Joey Hand. The Ford’s reserve driver for road courses will be on standby for the Austin weekend. He has wins in endurance races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 12 Hours of Sebring.

Keselowski has also kept open the option for a mid-race driver swap to Hand after starting the COTA race on the road course if he finds it too punishing on his leg.

Brad Keselowski To Start In Fifth Place At Atlanta After Cancelled Qualifying

Brad Keselowski will start the 2026 Autotrader 400 fifth after rain washed out qualifying on Saturday and the field was set by the performance metric. Daytona 500 winner Tyler Reddick will start from the pole position, with Joey Logano next to him on the front row. Keselowski and the No. 6 RFK Racing Ford sit in Row 3 when the green flag drops at 3 pm ET.

Keselowski has posted multiple top-10 starts at Atlanta, with this fifth-place grid spot being his fourth top-10 start there since 2022. The two-time winner at the 1.54-mile track has finished in the top 10 ten times over his last eight starts there.
