Jeremy Clements is on the verge of beating Kenny Wallace’s all-time starts record in the O’Reilly Series. The 41-year-old will make his 548th race next week at San Diego.
Driving for his family-owned team, Jeremy Clements Racing, the No.51 driver has been in motorsports for three decades. The man is a survivor of sorts, for he once returned from a near-fatal sprint car wreck that mangled his right arm. The recovery earned him the moniker, ‘The Bionic Man’.
Despite his enduring legacy, Clements is still fighting to keep his team afloat. He had to broker deals worth half a million dollars to cover JCR’s budget this season.
That said, Clements will tie Wallace’s record this weekend at Pocono. In a press conference on Friday, Clements shared his thoughts on the same.
“It’s incredible. I didn’t start racing in this series to get that, but now that we’re here it’s pretty cool. And it just shows that even though we’re a small team, we work hard and we’re determined, we don’t give up. To still be racing and loving what I get to do every week, it sure is a blessing,” he said via X/Steven Taranto
“I’m 41 now, Kenny was 51. I mean, I know I can still go a long time. So hope I can just make it where it’s unbreakable,” he added.
Kenny Wallace reacts to his brother Rusty Wallace’s latest NASCAR honour
Kenny Wallace’s brother, Rusty Wallace, has been bestowed the honour of Grand Marshall for the Cup Series race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. The event marks the venue’s maiden points-paying race since 1996.
Wallace celebrated the honour in a recent episode of Coffee with Kenny.
“Rusty has been given the biggest honor one can receive. In August, when we go back to Wilkesboro, Rusty is the grand marshal for the very first points race back at North Wilkesboro in 30 years. I’m very excited about it. We will have Rusty on Trackside Live,” Kenny Wallace said.
