Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s grandson honors Greg Biffle with special paint scheme ahead of Daytona test

Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s grandson Bobby Earnhardt, who competes full-time in the ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 89 Chevy for Rise Racing, has revealed a special paint scheme for his upcoming Daytona test. As mentioned in one of his latest posts on X, the iconic paint scheme will honor the life and career of NASCAR legend Greg Biffle.

Biffle, along with his wife, Christina, and two children, Emma and Ryder, was killed in a plane crash last month at Statesville Regional Airport. They were reportedly flying to Florida to spend the afternoon with famous YouTuber and NASCAR enthusiast, Cleetus McFarland.

Unfortunately, the meeting never happened as Biffle left for his heavenly abode. Unveiling some of the paint job on his car for the Daytona test, Bobby Earnhardt wrote (via X),

“A sneak peek with purpose. The Biff is riding with us this weekend. Honoring Greg Biffle’s legacy as we head into testing with @RiseRacing89. Full unveiling goes down at Daytona. So let’s hear it, what do YOU think the iconic paint scheme will look like?”

RFK Racing, formerly Roush Racing when Greg Biffle raced full-time, also honored the fallen legend with a special museum display at their race shop in Concord, North Carolina. After all, it was with Roush Racing that Biffle earned 19 career Cup Series wins.

The display features Biffle’s car from his final Cup race (at Michigan) back in 2013, which also marked the 1000th NASCAR victory for Ford. Even the race-winning trophy has been displayed alongside Biffle’s iconic ride.

The death of Greg Biffle came as a shock to the entire NASCAR community. Being a licensed pilot, Biffle ran several helicopter rescue missions after Hurricane Helene ravaged Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina on September 26, 2024.

Former NASCAR driver Mark Martin weighs in on Greg Biffle’s untimely demise

NASCAR icon Mark Martin was greatly shaken by the news of his friend, Greg Biffle’s, death. He knows the pain of losing loved ones as he, too, lost his father, stepmom, and half-sister in a plane crash back in 1998.

This isn’t the first time an aviation accident took the lives of a NASCAR driver and his family. The deaths of Alan Kulwicki, Davey Allison, and team owner Rick Hendrick’s son, Ricky Hendrick, were all due to aviation disasters. Noting the same, Mark Martin wrote in X (formerly known as Twitter),

“I can’t help feeling angry. Aviation is a very safe way to travel BUT has been savage to our racing community and families throughout history.”

As per The Charlotte Observer, a memorial service has been scheduled for Biffle and his family at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 16, at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.
