The 2024 season will be yet another season in which the Wolverines don’t have to leave home for the entire moth of September. Except, in 2024, the Wolverines play five straight games from Michigan Stadium to open the season, and one in August.

The Wolverines play host to the Mountain West’s Fresno State before welcoming in easily one of the most anticipated out-of-conference games of the 2024 season. The Texas Longhorns come to town to take on Michigan in what should be a battle of two top-ranked teams and — at the time of publishing this — a potential national championship rematch.

Both Texas and Michigan made the 2023-24 College Football Playoffs and will square off to start the season in Week 2 of the 2024 campaign.

In these program’s illustrious histories, they’ve somehow only met once: A 2005 Rose Bowl victory by the Longhorns, 38-37.

As far as the rest of their schedule goes, Michigan has a relatively light schedule when it comes to travel. Yes, they have to go to Husky Stadium in Seattle, Washington, but that’s about it in terms of long flight time. All things considered, Michigan’s hosting of both USC and Oregon mitigated their travel time in 2024.

USC comes to town on Saturday, September 21, after the Wolverines host Arkansas State from the Sun Belt. Michigan will host Oregon after their annual rivalry matchup against Michigan State on the first Saturday of November.

The Wolverines play three of the four new conference foes in 2024 and the new-look Big Ten may still run through The Game to end Michigan’s season.

This season, The Game may have even new meaning when Michigan and Ohio State meet as they’ll now have to navigate arguably some of the toughest conference schedules in all of football.

If OSU and Michigan sit at 11-0 once again for their annual noon meeting on the final Saturday of November, expect the eyes of the world to descend upon Columbus, Ohio, once again.
