When Milan Momcilovic announced that he was dropping out of the NBA draft and going back to college, many believed that Mark Pope has this in the bag and he will be going to Kentucky. However, it seems that another school from the Blue Grass State is making a late surge and possibly taking Momcilovic from under Pope’s nose, and that is their in-state rival, Louisville. New rumors are saying that he will be going to Louisville instead of UK.
This would be the latest possible recruit that Mark Pope has let slip after not being able to get No. 1 2026 prospect Tyran Stokes, a Kentucky native, to sign with the Wildcats. Now, fans believe that getting Milan Momcilovic is important in keeping his job as the head coach.
“You’re getting fired pope.” commented one person.
“If Pope misses on this one too.. I mean what do you even do if you’re Kentucky?” another fan asked.
“People just say stuff and everyone believes it lol. If he ends up committing to Louisville I’ll take the L but the last credible source to talk said it’s Kentucky.” noted another IG user.
“fire him if he sells this, ” one fan stated.
“They got to many good players. They don’t need him.,” one hopeful Kentucky fan added.
“Ok so isn’t Louisville already past the roster limit?” asked another person.
For now, fans are awaiting Milan Momcilovic’s decision on where to go.

Kentucky and Louisville Neck and Neck For Milan Momcilovic
When Milan Momcilovic entered the NBA draft shortly after entering the transfer portal, Arizona was considered the favorite as they reportedly offered him Koa Peat’s package. However, Mark Pope has been very tenacious in pursuing the forward and soon overtook Arizona.
However, late in the race, Arizona has now been left far behind as Louisville emerges as a key contender. Despite this, Kentucky remains as a top contender and has a very good chance to land him. However, given how much Kentucky fans are frustrated with Mark Pope, then the coach has to pull out all the stops and land Momcilovic to calm them down.
